Date Night Printable
Date Night! For me and my husband date night is hardly ever more than a meal at a restaurant without kids in tow. Don't even get me started on how long it's been since we've had an entire night alone! We both work full-time and we work opposite schedules so that we don't need to pay for child care. Date nights are very precious! One day I was thinking about our typical dates and wishing that we could get a bit more out of the little amount of time we have together. Obviously, focusing less on the kids, our mountainous to-do lists, our jobs, or outside obligations, and more on our relationship would be the best way to do this. A few minutes of research and I had a plan. I looked up "getting-to-know-you" type activities and comprised a list of questions that would be appropriate for couples. I printed them, cut them up, shoved them into a plastic zip-lock bag, and stuck them in my purse. Now whenever we go out to dinner, instead of talking about the kids, or work, or looking at our phones we use the baggie. We take turns drawing questions from the bag, and we each provide our answer to the question. We do this until we're done eating or we're ready to leave. Often it launches interesting conversations, and tangents; but it keeps us focused on each other. We're never bored, and even after 20 years of marriage, we're still finding out things about each other we didn't know. There are well over 100 questions on this list so we still haven't emptied the baggie. And when we do, I'll just find new questions to add!
